CHARACTER NAME: Colorman.EXE
CHARACTER AGE: ...I have no idea. Canon doesn't say anything about when Colorman was created, so he could be between 5 to 20 years old. Age doesn't have much of a bearing on him though, since he is an AI. Appearing as a human, he would look around 17 years old.
SERIES: Mega Man Battle Network
CHRONOLOGY: End of Rockman.EXE Stream.
CLASS: Villain.
HOUSING: Housed with Magicman if possible! If not, I'm open to anything.
BACKGROUND: World Overview | Colorman's Anime History (but it's kind of inadequate, so I'll be continuing from where it left off. Also, ignore his game history. It doesn't apply here.)
After participating in the N1 Grand Prix, getting damaged badly and repaired, Colorman and his NetOp Madoi sort of fade into the background with the rest of World Three. This is due to the fact that Wily, their leader goes missing after attempting to capture Pharoahman and failing. They set up a curry shop and run it while plotting ways to revive World Three to its former glory. Various things happen during that period, like Fireman's deletion and reformatting into Heatman when they went to search for the source of the viruses invading Internet City, Gospel almost turning Densan City into a tundra, and participating in a virtual Mobile Grand Prix in which Colorman and his teammates ride a train. All of them are events that Colorman, his NetOp Madoi and the other former World Three members play an extremely minor role in.
At one point, Madoi is invited to join Gospel and leave World Three, which she does. But she discovers Gospel is too brutal for her liking and rebels, sending Colorman to rescue Megaman and help Lan. Besides saving Megaman from a critical blow and releasing the drain covers so Lan and Commander Beef don't drown, he's not much help because when Madoi claims there was love in World Three, Colorman stops and takes the time to wonder if there really was love in the organization, which leads him to get promptly owned by Magnetman. Of course, Megaman takes it from there and beats Magnetman with his power of the day.
Eventually, they receive a pre-recorded message from Wily, directing them to the existence of a chip that contains all his data and its location. Unfortunately for the World Three members, Rush overhears them and runs off to report to Lan. This results in a race to the chip between Lan, the World Three members, and Gauss Magnus, a Wily fanatic. The chip is lost in the scuffle between Lan, Count Elec and Gauss, and nothing comes out of it.
Then, Gospel, a large Netbug creature, forms and begins rampaging in Internet City, eating all data in its path. The World Three members team up with Lan to stop Gospel (both the organization and the netbug), but the assumed to be dead Wily appears and reveals his position as the true leader of Gospel. At this point, Maha and Madoi plug out Magicman and Colorman and opt out of fighting, saying they cannot defy their leader. Count Elec continues fighting, if only to settle it with his brother Gauss, and it results in Elecman and Magnetman's deletion (though they both get restored later). Things happen between Lan and Megaman and Gospel's defeated, yay the Internet is saved. That pretty much marks the end of the second season.
In Axess, Colorman et al. have an even more minor role. The World Three members formally retire from crime and leave Japan. Madoi presumably goes with Maha to set up a curry shop in Jawaii, and isn't seen for pretty much all of Axess. They spend at least some of that time "training" Dex, Lan's friend, in Netbattling before sending him back to Japan, while Colorman and the other Navis sit around making fun of Dex and Gutsman after they're gone (so rude). They pretty much have a rather mundane (and unseen) life for the rest of the season.
In Stream, World Three makes more appearances. Maha returns to Japan with Dex, who is now a legit curry chef. Madoi is apparently still traveling, but makes frequent stops in Japan. Colorman himself only appears a total of once during the season, when Madoi is helping Charlie and the Net Police defend the golden tiara from Neo World Three's grasp. At this point, World Three actively helps Lan in his Net Saviour escapades, taking down Asteroid Navis and even, by order of Wily, borrowing the Dimensional Generator trucks and using it to from a Dimensional Area to allow Lan to take down Videoman.
At the end of the season, however, Duo, in his judgement, destroys Earth entirely, wiping everyone but the crest bearers out of existence. When he later reverses his judgement and restores Earth, everyone who was not directly involved in the event completely forgets about Duo's trials, which include the Asteroid Navis. So basically, all Colorman will remember is about Dr. Regal manufacturing and distributing Dark Chips, which occur during Axess, although thanks to Dingo and Tomahawkman, Colorman will know about Duo's trials as a vague Thing That Probably Happened.
PERSONALITY:
One look at Colorman would probably tell you pretty much everything you needed to know about his personality. Like his bright, almost eye-searing colour scheme screams, he's a cheerful and excitable character, greeting everyone and every situation with a big grin and anticipation for entertainment. It's hard to take him out of his good cheer; insults roll off his back like water, and his unpredictable nature makes it hard for others to gain the upper hand on him. He's also as silly and wacky as his clown-like design suggests, and loves causing mischief and confusing people.
But unlike most good, upstanding citizens of the Earth, Colorman's definition of mischief isn't limited to harmless fun and pranks. As a member of one of the most notorious cyber criminal organizations, World Three, Colorman revels in causing chaos, mayhem and panic all in the name of entertainment. Whether it's messing with traffic lights to cause crashes and jams, or coercing others to freeze the water system of the city, if it causes chaos and mayhem, that's entertainment to him. He doesn't care at all for the lives and safety of others, and would sooner laugh than apologize if you tried to point out how much harm he was causing. He follows this motto in his interpersonal interactions as well. Often quite blunt and rude, he ignores social mores and enjoys picking at open wounds and sore points to get amusing reactions out of people, which can make him somewhat abrasive and hard to get along with. Always active and restless, if he isn't given enough to do, he'll sometimes go as far as disobeying his NetOp Madoi and running off to cause chaos by himself.
Colorman's moral compass is on the very, very skewed side of things: he doesn't care much for laws and unspoken rules, and acts out of his own interest. A hedonist to the core, he doesn't give much of a thought for others' wellbeing or emotions, and does as he pleases, which is usually searching for the best way to have fun. He lacks impulse control, and often jumps at the first idea he gets, which ties into how expressive he is. He wears his heart on his sleeve, so to speak, so it's quite easy to pick out his rare moments of displeasure. And when he's very happy, you'll figure out very quickly as his excitability hits overdrive. He doesn't bother to hide any of this emotions; there's no need to, in his mind. And to be fair, when 90 percent of his feelings is happy, excited or amused, there's really no need to hide anything. In fact, he'll even exaggerate his emotions as it's usually attention-grabbing and annoying to others, which is exactly how he likes it.
Of course, this all means that Colorman doesn't really think ahead and consider the consequences of his actions or behaviour. His thoughts are always firmly rooted in the present, and one would be hard pressed to get him to think of what could happen if he did so and so. If he's got to think of something not fun, then it's boring, and he won't do it. Trying to convince him to do otherwise would invite his mischief and chaos causing tendencies upon you.
There are a few people who can tame his mischief making and impulsiveness. First, and the most important of these people is his NetOp Madoi. Netnavis tend to be paired with a human Operator of similar character (as they are usually made with that person in mind), with whom they bond and form a strong relationship with. Colorman is no exception to this rule. Though it may not seem like it at first glance, with the way he'll sometimes disobey her if bored enough and even poke fun at her choices, Colorman cares very deeply for Madoi. He's been with her for a long time now (how long, canon doesn't specify, but it's likely to have been Colorman's entire life), so he knows her inside out and she the same for him. Of course, they don't get along perfectly, but it's still a very close relationship. Colorman relies on Madoi to come up with plans, direct (operate, hence the term operator) him, be his impulse control, and repair him if damaged, and she relies on him to accomplish tasks through the net and be her friend. Sounds a little skewed, but Netnavis are treated as equals to humans, and are more than welcome to leave if they're displeased by their Operator. That he hasn't left Madoi out of boredom or displeasure speaks a lot to his feelings for her (not that Madoi's a boring Operator at all).
The other few people that can control him somewhat are his teammates, World Three Navis Fireman/Heatman, Elecman and Magicman. Their ability to control him is far less than Madoi's, but he likes and cares about them enough to consider listening to them and their ideas and thoughts. He can be just as abrasive and mischievous to them as he is to just about anyone but Madoi, but unlike with others, he lets up on his behaviour when he realizes that his teammates are truly upset and going any further could push them off the tip. Rather than being malicious, his teasing is meant to be in jest and harmless, and his teammates recognize that (though, dealing with it is a different story). He is also more cordial with them than he is with others. The World Three Navis count among the few whose lives and well-being Colorman cares for, and he would do anything to rescue them if they get into trouble (of course, Madoi has him backed up so he's never in real danger of true death).
There are few others that count in his outermost circle of "close enough to not make their life miserable," but that number is extremely low. But if you happen to fall in that category, than you can count your lucky stars. Colorman is surprisingly friendly and amicable when he's not out to torment you. He has no qualms about extending olive branches to former enemies (if they've reformed, and/or provided they don't seriously harm his teammates to put them in critical danger) and tends to be the first to let people know he's helping (out of the other World Three Navis). It's a rare occurrence for him not to be annoying, and usually only happens when Madoi orders him to do something, such as when she tasks him to help out Megaman in taking down Magnetman or Gospel.
As you can expect for a happy-go-lucky, hedonistic character like Colorman, he doesn't handle stress too well. When in a serious pinch, he'll be the first to express worry over the situation and request help from Madoi. There's never any situation in canon where Colorman is seriously stressed, however. As with most Netnavis, his NetOp is like a lifeline. He can always rely on her to plug him out or support him when he's in serious trouble, which means he's never put in a situation all alone. Netnavis are never alone, really. They will always have their NetOp to support them, so as a result, when forcefully split from them, a good majority of Netnavis tend to feel more vulnerable and distressed, and the same applies to Colorman. He reacts to the stress by even further exaggerating his emotions and behaviour, but when he hits his breaking point, he reacts by lashing out very violently, even towards his teammates, and then absconding from society completely once he's calmed down enough to stop being violent. Suffice to say, subjecting Colorman to extreme stress is not a good idea. But it's unlikely he'll ever hit that point, so long as someone familiar is around. As long as he has an anchor of some sort, he can deal with unwelcome situations easily enough.
Also, during the events of Axess and Stream, all the World Three members, including him, have mellowed out some, presumably due to giving up their criminal lifestyle and adopting something more mundane. While it doesn't mean Colorman will stop being a chaos-loving, abrasive asshole, it does mean his threshold between strangers and acquaintances is much lower, which means overall he is much nicer and friendlier to others. It also means he's less likely to go out searching for chaos and mayhem. All in all, Colorman's a fun-loving, excitable Navi whose morals and ideas of "fun" are quite skewed. Trying to get between him and entertainment will not end well for you, and Light save you if he's identified you as a source of amusement.
POWER:
Data Transfer: Colorman will be able to enter electronic devices by transforming into data and 'plugging in' to the targeted device. If other devices are connected to said device in any manner, such as through the communication network, he is able to travel through it to reach the other devices. Similarly, if the device isn't connected to any other device, then he's unable to leave the device through the net and can only leave by plugging out and returning to the physical world. Destroying the device he's inhabiting destroys its cyberworld, and forces him to plug out with minor injuries. While in data form, Colorman regains his Netnavi appearance.
As a data being, he'll see firewalls as physical walls, active anti-hacking measures as enemies or obstacles and viruses as cute little critters, all of which can be taken care of with physical violence. He will also have access to his natural, programmed abilities, which include summoning miniature versions of himself which can use the flame tower and aqua tower battle chip moves and making illusionary versions of himself. Any damage he sustains as a Netnavi will transfer to his human body once he plugs out. He can also communicate to those in the physical world, provided there are speakers for him to transmit audio. He can hear those in the physical world as well, again, provided there is a microphone or some sort of audio input device.
Ball Creation: Pretty much what it sounds like. Colorman can create balls of any size and material. He also has control over the density, weight and properties of the ball, so, while at first creating balls sounds harmless, it can get really destructive if he were to, say, create a rubber bouncing ball that is as big and weighs like a bowling ball. The manipulation of density, weight and property is minor though, so it can't be too physically implausible or he won't be able to create it.
Colorman also has to know what exactly what material he wants to use to create a ball, so he wouldn't be able to create a nonexistent or implausible material out of thin air. The ball can be created out of composite materials, but the limit is two materials, and one of the materials must act as a container for the second material. So he could create a glass ball filled with air (and use it to trap people or objects), or a latex ball filled with paint, but he couldn't create a ball that is metal in one hemisphere and concrete for the other hemisphere. The balls he creates can't come with preset perforations; those need to be added manually after creating the ball. They can come in any colour he chooses though, if the material supports it.
Colorman can also create a limitless number of balls, but only within a 30 foot radius of himself. The coverage is spherical so he can create balls above and below himself as well. On top of that, he is only able to create a ball in a specific location if he is familiar with the area. So for instance, he would not be able to create a ball past a wall in an unfamiliar building, but he would be able to do so in his home. He also cannot create the ball with a preset velocity and trajectory, so he either has to throw/kick/punt them or let gravity do its thing once they're created.
Lastly, Colorman can toggle the ball's permanence. Before creating the ball, he has to determine if the ball will stay permanently in the world or disappear after a while, like after its completed its objective or a timer runs out. As this is determined before creating the ball, this means Colorman cannot erase permanent balls as he pleases (and oh boy, this will be a baaaaad thing for Cape Canaveral).
The ball creation ability is usable while he's a data form, but as it's data, he has much more freedom with the density, weight and properties of the balls, plus he does not need to determine the ball's permanence beforehand. They stay for as long as Colorman is conscious and/or wills them to. The distance and familiarity limitations apply, however.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE: Thread with Magicman | Thread with X
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
The world of humans was extremely interesting. It was so crowded and cluttered, full of stimuli and sensory information that Colorman had a hard time making heads or tails of it. Smell, taste, touch... Netnavis had an imitation of those senses, but they weren't as sensitive as the real thing. After he'd gotten over the shock of becoming human, he'd taken to the world like a duck in water, and explored as much as he could with the now limited energy he had as a human.
It was sunset by the time he found himself fatigued and wondering where he was supposed to stay for the night. He had received files when he first found himself in the bizarre city, but he'd just as quickly lost them in his excitement. So he leisurely meandered about town, wondering what method would be best for alerting the teammate who had accompanied him here. Who was probably sorely missing his Operator because he was attached like that. Pffft, loser. He could manage just fine without Madoi!
....But he would miss her somewhat while he was here. He couldn't remember the last time he had been without her. Maybe he never had had a moment where he was completely detached from Madoi. Probably not; she was always there to direct him when he needed it. And, would she be okay without him? She was probably going to panic once she realizes he wasn't going to return. Colorman giggled to himself as he envisioned her freaking out, but it quickly tapered off. It wasn't really that funny to think about, actually.
She was going to be fine. Probably. She had the other operators, Maha, Hinoken, Count Elec with her. Maha was probably going to worry as well. They could worry together. Yeah, she was gonna be fine. Having come to a conclusion, Colorman quickly put the thought out of his mind and spied a large advertisement screen. It would be pretty cool if he could just plug into the city's net by touching it, wouldn't it....
FINAL NOTES: My castmates and I have agreed to mix up the English and Japanese names of the various characters of the Battle Network world. We're aware that it may cause some confusion among those who are only somewhat familiar with the canon, so we will probably have a list written up somewhere for clarity.
